Classical Piano

This is an individual class lasting 30-45 mins per lesson and held once a week.

This course instructs students in the performance of music from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and contemporary periods. It also covers the traditional areas of musicality like sight-reading, aural, technical exercises, and theory of music. If the students so wish, they can opt to take graded and diploma examinations from the ABRSM, Trinity-Guildhall, or London College of Music exam boards held twice yearly. The syllabus focuses on what is required in the exams and also includes technical exercises that prepares the student for exams.

The demands of learning classical music can be quite taxing and substantial time needs to be devoted to independent practice at home. Learning to read notes starts as early as possible and is developed gradually into an essential skill for future higher levels. Students who start at an early age will generally find this an easy and natural learning process.

While this course is open to all ages, most adults will typically tend to take longer to reach the normal milestones because their heavy family and work commitments limit the amount of time they have for practice. Nevertheless, those who can afford the time generally do well.
